We had an amazing experience last weekend. We went to the historic town of Naval in Aragon, just 30 minutes from Fonz. We packed the picnic, Spanish style, tortilla, chicken, salad, anchovies, cheese and bread! Check out our Instagram!

Nat thought we were somehow going to Lake Eyre or the Dead Sea! For those of you who know Nat…you can imagine. But where we arrived was in the historic town of Naval. Famous for the aquifer and its pottery, this location has been renowned for nearly a 1000 years for it’s salt mines.

The earliest systematic exposition of the different kinds of salts, their uses, and methods of extraction was published in China around 2700 years BC . Hippocrates encouraged his fellow healers to make use of salt water to heal various ailments by immersing their patients in sea water.

The merits of salt baths include reducing stress and fluid retention, anti aging for the skin, strengthening of the bones and nails and assisting in increasing the circulation…and I can vouch for the merits of a very good, all over, exfoliation!

We all know that an Epsom salt bath is know for relaxing the muscles and easing muscle stiffness but there are also studies showing that patients suffering from tendinitis and osteoarthritis just from bathing in the Dead Sea found improvement in their conditions in as little as a week after treatments of daily bathing.

Salinar de Naval is basic, but the experience is magic.

The baths are open from the 1st of June to the 31st of August.

Entrance is 7€ per person.
